About the Role – Data Center Technician

• As a Data Center Technician at Google, you will work within the Hardware Operations team to set up and maintain data center infrastructure including servers, network equipment, and storage hardware.
• You’ll participate in deploying new systems, diagnosing issues, performing physical hardware troubleshooting, and ensuring that infrastructure meets Google’s high standards for reliability and performance.

Key Responsibilities

•  Deploy and operate new data center infrastructure projects or functions.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment and infrastructure issues as they arise.
• Maintain the security and integrity of data hardware per strict data center standards.
• Disassemble and replace part components during maintenance or end-of-life service.
• Perform preventative maintenance, repair equipment, and support regular operations.
• This role sometimes involves physical work such as lifting heavy equipment (up to ~50 lb), climbing, bending, and shift-based schedules including nights, weekends, or holidays.

Minimum Qualifications

• Experience assembling mechanical or electrical systems or performing component-level repairs on technical equipment.
• Ability to diagnose/troubleshoot hardware, operating systems, or networking protocols.
• Capability to work non-standard hours, including weekends and night shifts.
• Physical ability to move and handle equipment in a 24/7 operation environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• Completion of the Google IT Support Professional Certificate.
• 1–2 years of experience with server hardware or data center troubleshooting.
• Prior experience working in a data center or network operations environment.
• Strong teamwork and collaboration skills in a dynamic setting.
